Field Sections & Residency
To effectively serve the state, UHP is divided into 14 Field Sections. In most cases, Troopers are required to live within the boundaries of their assigned section.
How Assignments Work:
-
Rank Your Preferences: During the hiring process, you will submit a ranked list of the areas where you want to work.
-
Receive Your Assignment: UHP leadership determines final placements based on department needs and your preferences.
-
Know Before You Sign: Your specific Field Section assignment is included with your official job offer. You will know exactly where you will be stationed before you have to make a final decision.
