Being a Certified Emergency Dispatcher with the Utah DPS could be the career for you.
What do dispatchers do?
- Critical link between callers and first responders.
- Provide services for state and local agencies, Highway Patrol, and Fire Departments.
- Dispatch appropriate personnel/equipment in response to police, fire, and medical calls.
- Make urgent decisions affecting the life and welfare of the public.
- Obtain EMD and POST certification during probation.
Hiring Incentives
- Salary Credit: One-for-one credit for prior experience.
- $2,500 Bonus: For those with current Utah POST Dispatch certification.
- $1,000 Bonus: For new hires with no experience or out-of-state certs.
*After successful background investigation, polygraph, and drug test.
