What do dispatchers do?

  • Critical link between callers and first responders.
  • Provide services for state and local agencies, Highway Patrol, and Fire Departments.
  • Dispatch appropriate personnel/equipment in response to police, fire, and medical calls.
  • Make urgent decisions affecting the life and welfare of the public.
  • Obtain EMD and POST certification during probation.

Hiring Incentives

  • Salary Credit: One-for-one credit for prior experience.
  • $2,500 Bonus: For those with current Utah POST Dispatch certification.
  • $1,000 Bonus: For new hires with no experience or out-of-state certs.
